A New Home Remodeled: The North Shore Dream Home Remodeled

I often times hear about home building & remodeling clients who are looking to build their dream home from scratch. And while designing and building a new home excites me, sometimes building a custom home is not always the right solution. Whether it is the economy, the location that you are looking for, or the timing of the project, remodeling is always an excellent option for homeowners looking to make a fresh start. I recently helped a family remodel their original home into the home they’ve always dreamed about. The North Shore Dream Home Remodeled is special because the project was completed in three phases. First we remodeled the foyer, dining room, theater and media room. When the family was ready to embark on the second phase, we remodeled the master bedroom, master bathroom, master closet, master sitting room, upstairs laundry room, pool and outdoor kitchen. And the third phase was the kitchen, breakfast room and family room. The home feels and looks brand new and is equipped with the latest features. Remodeling projects can be extremely beneficial; not only was this client able to remodel when the time was right for them, but they were able to stay in the neighborhood they loved. I am proud to have helped them create their own home, their dream home remodeled.

Why pay for a fitness club and spa membership, when you can have one right inside your own home? Recently, home building & remodeling clients have been asking about in home spas and special features that make a home feel like a personal resort. I like to recommend installing these amenities in the master bathroom; the master bathroom should be a relaxing escape that makes a homeowner feel they are away from all the noise and craziness of the rest of the house. I completed a master bath in Northbrook IL that I consider a luxury retreat. Equipped with tall-beamed ceilings, a large shower with several water features and an old-fashioned claw foot tub with a heated back, this master bathroom is the ultimate getaway. Each master bath spa can be designed according to what makes the client relax. It is the perfect space to relax and rejuvenate because it’s intimate and private.

I was lucky enough to meet with writer, Leslie Mann a few months ago for an interview for her Builder Snapshot column in the Chicago Tribune. Leslie titled the article, “Selling the Luxuria Lifestyle”. Published in late June (6/26/09) the story ran in the Tribune’s Chicago Homes section. I truly enjoyed our interview time together, Leslie meets many custom home builders and remodelers and our in-depth discussion was energizing. Recycled Vanity

For the earth friendly, a fabulous alternative to buying new pieces for your home is to recycle old pieces. I recently had a client who had bought an antique buntiere on E-Bay to use as a vanity in a formal powder room. We refurbished it, adding a gorgeous limestone with a cove over waterfall edge detail and voila!, we have an absolutely stunning vanity! Other details of the room included a niche for a mirror and wrought iron sconces that complimented the home’s old world charm. Not only is the outcome beautiful and meaningful, it is also a creative way to be more ecologically conscious.
